SUPPORTING CHILDREN AND FAMILIES
As the largest provider of education and care in Tasmania with 40 services in Hobart, Launceston and in the regional areas of Oatlands, Swansea, and George Town, over 5900 children from 4100 families access our services throughout the year. We are proud to be a trusted partner of so many families to provide high-quality education and care, and we are proud of the work our 570 amazing educators, service managers and service support staff undertake every day.
Lady Gowrie Tasmania (LGT) takes our commitment to our ‘Children First’ mission seriously and our services are supported by an incredible Education and Care Leadership Team who work behind the scenes supporting all aspects of service delivery, ensuring we meet the laws, regulations and quality standards that guide best practice in the education and care sector.
LGT has three dedicated Regional Managers (Miffy Wedd – Long Day Care (LDC) South, Lynette Mason – LDC North and Kellie Guard – Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) statewide) who are the conduit between Educators and Service Managers and the wider LGT community. They are on hand to mentor and coach service managers and educators, work with families to resolve questions and concerns, and to ensure that children are at the centre of every decision we make. Regional Managers visit each service at least once a month and are the first point of contact for services to ask questions, celebrate successes and support safety and continuous improvement.
The Education and Care Leadership Team also comprises of a Compliance Manager (Mel Byrne) who supports services to meet the regulatory requirements mandated by the Department of Children and Young People, developing polices and procedures and guiding services to keep children safe in our environments.
Shannon Gall, our Practice and Pedagogy Manager, supports our services to focus on the development, interests and strengths of every child and create exciting, innovative programs that inspire and delight little people.
With over 80 trainees in our services, LGT is committed to providing a career pathway for new educators to work in education and care while undertaking training through our Registered Training Organisation (RTO) to gain the skills and qualifications required to work in the sector. In addition to the support trainees receive from the RTO and their service manager, LGT also employs Bec Hayes – Trainee Coordinator to provide on the ground support to trainees, supporting with assessment tasks and mentoring and coaching on the floor to ensure that every trainee is aligned to our philosophy and practices.
You may notice that a new poster has been displayed in every service with photos of these key Education and Care Leadership Team members as well as their contact numbers. If you have any questions, feedback, suggestions or concerns please don’t hesitate to contact your service manager of one of our education and care leaders. We are here to create the best experience for children and families in our services and are always ready to work with you. Link to the poster and contact details are below:
